Subject: First enamelling effort |

So, I'm trying my first enamelling project on blown vessells. I am unclear about how hot I can go before my vessells start to deform. The instructions say about 1500 deg... but I know that is too hot.. I think I'll try just hitting 1350 or so and see what happens. Donovan |

I used glassline enamells by bringing up to above anealling temp in a top load kiln. Then, I puntied them up and shot them into the glory hole for a bit to set the enamel. I found that these glass line enamells need to be very hot in order to set well. For future experiements, I will try painting on partially completed vessells... perhaps before the transfer point. This way, the glass will be good and hot (upon finishing the piece) and will hopefully set the enamells better.
